Hi i'm new to this site and it's great. I'v been feeling low since January felt sick and tired all the time with weak limbs. Nurse checked my blood and my thyroid results came back slightly hyper told me to come back in 4 weeks to have it checked again, they came back normal although had been taking a vitamin klb6 (kelp, soya lecithin, vitamin b6 & cider vinegar) told by friend this would help. Doctor was happy with this and i was sent away. symptoms have come back again and this time feel much worse, limbs achy, tiredness, shaky hands, very faint and of course moody and losing a lot of weight although i feel hungry and eat quite a bit. Nurse took more blood tests and told me not to take kelp. Doctor informed me that levels were abnormal and has referred me to specialist. What will he do to help me and what do i need to ask him when i am there. I dont want to be sent away and told I am wasting his time. Anybody out there who can help please as I so want to feel better. I have always been very active and full of energy and this is depressing me.

Hi,
your symptoms were the very same symptoms i was having and my gp tret me for stress. I couldnt walk unaided was so weak, if i was on the floor i could not get up without help, tired, weak, loss of weight felt terrible. wasnt until i had hospital app for another problem that that specalist took one look and said i was a very ill lady. It turned out i had an over active thyroid that could have really been serious as my heart rate was so rapid, it thought i was working out 24/7 non stop! Since then, four yrs ago my thyroid has changed pattern to under active and only recently back to over active. I am on two lots of medication that really help. Once u see the thyroid specalist u will be given the correct help feel assured abt that, i have to have my blood taken one week before i see my specalist, that gives them the chance to see how high the thyroid levels are, mine were 91.1 and shud b no more than 21, thats how ill i was! But please be assured once u get to see this thyroid doctor he/she will certainly take u for real and not dismiss u at all. Im now told mine is a symptom called Graves disease.
I wish u all best and hope your soon sorted and bac to good health.
Steph.

thank you steph, it's put my mind at ease. Finding out about other people who have the same symptoms has been a big help as no one seems to understand what your going through and you wonder if its all in your mind. I,m due to go back to nurse to get some more blood taken as she says she wants to check my sugar levels due to feeling faint and dizzy. Hopefully my appointment with specialist will come through quick, i just want to get back to feeling normal again. Have you been on medication for 4 years to control your thyroid levels? and are there any side affects with the medication?
