Let me start by saying this is my first time joining a forum, I joined cause I am in desperate need of some information for someone who is going through or may have gone through what I am right now. Here's my story. My name is Katie I am 26 years old. I am common law with my fiancee and we have a 10 month old daughter. When I was 21 I started to have migraines and I just overall didnt feel "right" I was always tired and I just chalked it up to a busy lifestyle and I thought my migraines were a result of breaking my nose, so I went to my GP my symptoms included but not limited to rapid weight loss (25lbs in one month) without dieting, panic attacks with irregular heartbeat, sensitivity to heat, migraines, insommnia, fatigue and irritability. and he decided I should see a specialist for my migraines before assuming it was anything else. After 2 CT scans, 1 MRI, numerious physical tests and 1 year later nothing is wrong. So I was then sent to an ear, nose and throat specialist and was told there was nothing wrong either. So ok I have these gut wrenching migraines and all these symptoms but nothing is wrong so I dealt with it. I saw my GP on a regular and we tried several different medications for migraine relief and nothing seemed to work and I did not want to live my life "doped" up. When I was 24 I decided that I would get out of my line of work (collection agent) and see if stress was the culprit, not the case. A couple months into my "new stress free life" I was still not feeling well. So I saw a new GP and the first thing he asked me was if thyroid problems run in my family, I didnt know cause it isnt something that people talk about at family reunions so I said I could ask and in the meantime he ordered blood work to be done, low and behold 1 week later I am back in his office and he is telling me that I might have Graves Disease and that he is sending me for a Thyriod Uptake test. I go for the test and sure enough Graves Disease but sub clinical so no medication needed. So now I know what is wrong but I have to live with it till medication needed? So I moved back to my hometown, met my fiancee and had my baby girl. 1 month after her birth it started again but this time I was losing my hair (more so than usual) but I was told that was my hormones from having the baby. So with all the information back at my old doctor about the diagnosis he decided to do blood work and this time it came back no longer sub clinical but time to see an Endocrinologist so I did that and was told that I had a 20 percent chance of remission on medication and Radioactive Iodine Treatment would be the best option but that was to be my choice. So I chose it after a lot of reading. It has been 4 months since I had the treatment and I went from having Graves Disease Hyperthyroidism to having a normal functioning thyroid and now Hypothyroidism. I was prescribed Synthroid .75mg and I was feeling good, I was starting to grow hair again and it was no longer falling out and I was all in all feeling "normal". I had blood work done and my doctor increased my dosage to 1mg. Now I am tired again, easily irritated, panic attacks and of course my hair is falling out again and all I want to do is sleep. If there is anyone that could offer some advice that would be great. I might add getting an appointment with my Endocrinologist is like pulling teeth and I only get to see him every 6 months or so. Thank you in advance for and help and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello and welcome.

You are either under medicated or the RAI didn't work the first time.

Do you have any recent labs? If so, please post them along with the reference ranges.

I agree, something is going on. Please do get your most recent labs and post those results with the ranges. Unfortunately, you might have to go through RAI more than once. Surgery is also an option. Did they talk to you about that?

Hi Katie,

I hope you are feeling better soon, and I think at this point, I might be looking for a new endo. You need someone that is going to monitor you closer than that... like every 2 to 3 months instead of 6.

:hugs:

Welcome to the forum

most recent labs show TSH was low. T3 a little low but not by much and T4 normal. Those labs are from May that is when my dosage was increased. I am still waiting for a call back from my endo to see what to do from here. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will keep you updated.

What is low?
Low out of Labs or low in Labs range.

Low does not tell us anything.

You might not be at the correct levels for you to heal. We all are different, likewise our levels and healing.
