My wife has been being treated for papillary thyroid cancer for the last two years with pretty good results so far. A few weeks ago she had her third dose of radioactive iodine and her whole body scan results have shown some uptake in her liver. The endocrinologist was not sure if this was "signifigant" or not. Has anyone heard of RAI uptaking in the liver being normal? I know there are places they sometimes expect to see uptake such as salivary glands, bladder, kidneys, breasts but we have never been told liver. Thanks for any info.

I don't know much, only from what I have read which is that
it is not uncommon for very small amounts of iodine uptake to be detected in the liver.
