I know Webster2 is in Vermont - I just heard Vermont is suffering the worst flooding its seen in over a hundred years!
Is anyone else in harm's way or displaced OR been impacted in anyway by Irene?

Hello from soggy Vermont. It was pretty wild up here. I live up near the Canadian border, which the least hit. We have 7 inches of new rain, lots of trees down, and many folks without power. My dear husband had the dubious honor of canceling school today, it would have been the first day. Southern Vermont is in bad shape, as most of you have seen on the news. Very hard hit.

Glad to know that our Webster and her family is okay! Sending prayers and best wishes to Vermonters for recovery!

I hate seeing that kind of destruction but a really poignant thing was seeing at least three historic covered bridges in Vermont being totally destroyed by the flood waters.
Did y'all know that today is the sixth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina? It sounds like Jose' (?) is trying to work himself into another major storm.

It is pretty sad. How ironic on the date...

Yes; I am big on preservation of antiquities. Our past is our future, after all!

Hurricane Lee is giving some thought to heading our way but I suspect he'll veer East. It's probably 12 degrees cooler this morning, overcast and the wind is blowing slightly.
Irene has caused so much suffering. I was thinking yesterday about all the countless people like us, people who honestly don't feel well or are facing surgery or have maybe just had surgery, people with life-threatening health problems, pregnant women, families with new babies, etc., people whose lives are already totally stressed - and maybe their homes have been destroyed or so damaged the families are displaced and uncomfortable.
My prayers are with all who catch the fury of natural disasters - even under the best possible conditions, it's still something that changes lives forever.
