Hello all,

Since about March, I've been feeling super tired all the time. And it's not even that I'm just tired, I'm tired to the point where I feel like I absolutely have to lay down and sleep or else I won't make it through the day. I'm like this on a fairly regular basis and its much worse when I don't get enough sleep. I'm also feeling like I have no energy and I've been a lot more forgetful lately. I also have this constant feeling of being in this weird fog, almost as if I feel detached from what's going on around me.

My general practitioner put me on synthroid and, when that didn't seem to help, I went to an endocrinologist who has doubled my dose. This was two weeks ago and she said it can take up to six weeks to kick in.

My question is, has anyone felt this way before? I'm tired of feeling tired and apathetic all the time. Any words of wisdom? Do you think this new dosage is the answer?

Hello there and welcome to the board.

I am sorry to hear that you are hypothyroid. Could you please tell me what your current dose of Synthroid is? And yes; it does take 6 to 8 weeks to kick in at which point you should lab again so the dose can be titrated either up or down as needed until you feel good.

The symptoms you describe seem to be part and parcel w/ hypothyroid. You may also wish to check your ferritin. Many who have thyroid disease also have low ferritin (protein that stores the iron for cellular uptake.)

Did your doctor run any antibodies' tests?
