I was wondering if anyone had any information on the affects of hormone replacement therapy on those of us with Hashimoto's or Graves. Since my doctors were in denial about my thyroid being a problem, I went to my Gyno and she changed my HRT (I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago). I am 39 so I have been on hormone replacement for almost 10 years. She bumped up my dosage and this seemed to make any Hashis symptoms that I am having magnified. I started back on the previous HRT on Monday and some of my symptoms seem to be receeding. Which begs the question: Can HRT screw with your thyroid? I am still having symptoms, hair loss, dry skin, you know the old standards of thyroid disease but the anxiety portion, skin flushing, shaking and tremor, and the attacks happening in the middle of the night seems to be getting a bit better. Any thoughts?
