View Full Version : Any New Years Resolutions gone bad out there?

This year, I really didn't have time to think about New Years Resolutions, so I didn't make any...which is nice, because that means I haven't failed any, either!

If I would have made any resolutions about weight or dieting, I've already blown those out of the water. And my house is just as cluttered as it usually is. And I'm already spending money on things I don't truly need. So I'm not off to a great start for 2012. ;)

How about you?

Is this a good example of "It takes one to know one"? :tongue0015:

I too didn't make any this year, you took the words right out of my mouth. I guess if I were to actually write one down it would simply be to get through the rest of this year winning this thyroid cancer battle :)

I have been sewing for over 50 years. I am not kidding when I say there is sewing-related stuff in my house that is that old! I have fabric that is older than Octavia. I have patterns that are so old, women today would think they were to make costumes. So (or sew, as the case may be) my only 2012 resolution is to dispose of a lot of this junk and organize what little I plan to keep.

Every day I try to work a little bit on my project but some days I don't - there's no point in rushing, Rome wasn't built in a day! My living room/dining room is now designated for sewing organization...but so far I've mostly enjoyed rummaging through everything! I've found discontinued fabrics I'd forgotten I had including a pre-Katrina New Orleans tapestry fabric I might work with next week if time permits. I also found a mug from New York City that had the World Trade Center on it - it had been holding tubes of fabric adhesives that, needless to say, were petrified!

Year before last year my only resolution was to clean out and organize my recipes and I worked on all that off and on for months but I actually finished everything and have loved being able to find favorite recipes.

The year before that I cleaned out our attic - which was a monumental undertaking! I wish I could say I've kept it organized but it's a mess again so maybe that'll be my 2013 resolution!!

If/when I get the fabric re-organization plan finished, I might tackle the tons of old craft supplies I've saved - floral stuff, every imaginable paint, every little drawing instrument known to modern man, tools, enough ribbon to circle the universe, etc.

My house looks like a tornado struck Hobby Lobby right now but, hopefully, I will eventually get it all back together again!!

That's a great one for all of us!
