What do the docs base the diagnosis of ha****oxicosis on. Is it because of the Peroxidase antibodies alone? Other than that, my labs (AND SYMPTOMS) always point to hyper, although I'm continually told that I have Ha****oxicosis or Hashimotos Thyroiditis.

I only know how this should be diagnosed and that would be by FNA (fine needle aspiration) whereupon if "certain" Hurthle cells indigenous to Hashimoto's are present, then the patient has Hashimoto's.

FNA is indicated if there is uncertainty. However, it must be remembered that lymphoma or a small-cell carcinoma of the thyroid can be and has been mistaken for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Clusters of nodes at the upper poles strongly suggesting papillary cancer may disappear when thyroid hormone replacement therapy is given. However, we have seen a sufficient number of patients with both thyroiditis and tumor to know that one diagnosis in no way excludes the other. Thyroid etc. etc. which you can finish reading here......

Some guess at it and there is chatter on the 'net that if TPO is really high, the patient has Hashi's. That is only a guess in my humble opinion.

I also know that cancer should be ruled out (and not by guessing) and that other tests should be run to narrow the field.

For example, those w/ hyperthyroidism usually have TBII. (thyroid binding inhibitory immunoglobulin)
