Greetings to all! I'm here obviously because I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism for 8 years now. I am a 33 year old male.
My Hashimoto hypothyroidism was triggered by SSRIs. In fact I started taking those damn drugs and a few months later I developed Hashimoto with all the typical symptoms (hair loss, slow metabolism, sexual dysfunction). I took the exams and I had TSH at 20 with skyrocketing antibodies!
Over the years I have tried all kinds of therapy (T4, T3 + T4, NTD) but none have given me symptom relief. My TSH went down, but my symptoms remained.
I have read numerous articles (also on this forum) on the link between serotonin and thyroid. I have read that specific serotonin receptors can interfere with thyroid functioning. Apparently, these receptors are desensitized by the SSRIs and I can't get my thyroid to work anymore. Do you have useful tips? I don't know what to do anymore, I'm only 33, but I've lost the will to live.
