painful tumour on thyroid - anyone else?

Hi, I have a large ( 3 cm) solid nodule on my thyroid that's causing me a lot of grief. I have an almost constant feeling of pressure in my throat and daily pains throughout my neck and collarbone, up into my ear and the back of my head. I can't get comfortable in bed anymore, despite stacking pillows and changing positions. I sleep very little. It's making me feel erratic and irritable! Anyone else had a bothersome, painful thyroid nodule like my self? And what did or do you find helps with the pain and getting comfortable for sleep? Any help much appreciated. I'm at the end of my tether x x

Hello Laura,

I have thyroid cancer and the size of the nodule is large enough that I can see a slight lump on my neck to the lower right side of adams apple. I have dealt with swollen lymph nodes which is probably the most irritating (5/10 pain level).

I find that the pain is worse after a day filled with talking. I was informed that the nerves for you vocal chords buttress up to your thyroid (please note that this is an assumption based on my experience) I am in sales and do a lot of talking all day long. For slight, temporary relief I find sneaking some of my kids popsicles does the trick (specifically the cold liquid helps me).
I have always slept on my back and have yet to experience any issues or interruptions with my sleep. I have had sleepless nights just getting over the diagnosis but I am over it now. Personally, I am quite eager to be on the operating table. But my surgeon quite busy and explained that other cancers take precedence over mine so September it will be.
I do hope you find some sleep though. I will include you in my prayers.
Respectfully
Clint

I have the same exact symptoms. I have a 2.5cm large complex cyst on right and 1.5cm complex cyst on left. I saw the ent already and he wants to recheck with US on September 20th. I had FNA on each side. One benign and the other non diagnostic as it has so much fluid and only the bottom of the nodule around the peripheral is solid so it's difficult to get a good tissue sample. He wants to see if it grows between my May ultrasound and Sept one. I'm not in a hurry to have surgery yet so I am ok with. When it acts up though, it's very uncomfortable.

Well; my goodness! Has not your doctor set you up for surgery? Have you had an ultra-sound or FNA (fine needle aspiration?) Cancer is a huge concern at this point!

Glad you are here.
