I am having so much trouble - no doctor will listen to me - went to a really bad Endo today for the 100th time for him to tell me its not my thyroid - I mention pitutary and adrenal - he said he could check adrenal easy enough since my cortisol was high and gave me 2 Decandron to take after 11 and have blood work in morning - All I can find out so far is that is a steriod - I have read nothing about this test for adrenal problems. He blew right over the pituitary problem - Any advise what to ask for and look for. My numbers etc are on post under Thyroid Cancer ( I think) - Crazy - memory - its gone!!! Please help. Thanks, Kim

I had to go out of state to find a doctor who knew something about pituitary
problems...if your cortisol is high, you need to find a good Cushings specialist---do a lot of research and don't take the doctor's word regarding their "specialty".

Aunty Body, Thanks for responding My cortisol has come back into range. but I still feel terrible. My body temp goes from 97 to 98, I am hypothyroid,and I'm not sure if my dosage is where it is suppose to be with the new 2003 guidelines. I'm sometimes feel that my sugar levels are also up and down. Any more suggestions.
I suggest getting your Prolactin checked. Normal Prolactin ranges between 1 and 30. At the time of my first Pituitary Adenoma, my prolactin was over 1000. I had visual issues, dizziness and sluggish feeling.
Not much differnet from what I am feeling now... 30 years later.
It is necessary that you go to an endocrinologist who also has a speciality in Neurological issues as well. You might even go to a Neuro Opthamologist to get your visual fields checked. This could also indicate any Pituitary issues.
Remember, the Pituitary is situated smack dab between the Optic Nerves from each eye, like an X. The pituitary is a Pea sized gland that is in in Sella Tursica.
You might have your friendly family physician help you out by getting the Prolactin Blood test and a Lateral Skull, to check the status of the Sella and Pituitary.

UPDATE:
Had an appointment with my Neuro-Opthamologist and also with an EENT Specialists who does extensive work with NEURO patients.
My Prolactin level is 5, my MRI does not indicate any new problems. I do have a new 5mm pituitary tumor, but it has not grown since 2005.
It seems I may have damaged nerves or something wrong with my vascular system in my brain. I am scheduled for a special test on October 8th, to determine the situation.
